An Australian mother claims that a picture taken in 2014 during swimming with a friend and her children was photobombed by the ghost of a girl who died from drowning exactly in the same spot almost a century ago, the Daily Mailreports.
The photo was uploaded by Kim Davison of Queensland on the Facebook page of “Toowomba Ghost Chasers” and appears to show four children and two adults.
The group were swimming in Murphy’s Hole in Lockyer River, southeast of Queensland last year.
Mrs. Davison, however, could only recall she was in the river at that time only with her three children and her friend Jessie Lu, which makes her wonder who could possibly be the fourth child in the photo.
Her scary thought turns even more spine-chilling when she was told a 13-year girl died from drowning in the same creek on November 19, 1915. Researchers from the website told her the girl’s name was Doreen Sullivan and provided a copy of a newspaper archive dated November 22, 1915 reporting the accident. It reads:
“Doreen O Sullivan, aged 13 years, eldest daughter of Mr. James O’Sullivan was accidentally drowned whilst bathing in the Lockyer Creek on Friday afternoon. Nearly an hour elapsed, before the body was recovered. The spot, which has always been considered dangerous, is known as Murphy’s Hole, and is over 20 foot deep.”
Davison then recalled what she described as strange occurrences during that day when her daughter supposedly complained of having her leg grabbed by something beneath the water. She also remembered feeling something behind her as she was about to come out of the water, but tried to dismiss it.
Those eerie recollection made Davison more convinced that there was an unseen entity in that eerie encounter and it could not be less than of the girl whose spooky image appeared on theirpictures.
She also claims to have consulted two paranormal experts who supposedly made extensive investigations and have both concluded the photobombing image is the same girl who died in the area.
Some who have seen the photo on Facebook agreed to Mrs. Davison’s impression of the image and even added there were other “entities” they saw in the photo, including a bearded man near the “ghost child”.
The usual sceptics, however, tried to refute Davison’s claim, saying the image was nothing more than a splash in the water, while others said it could just be another kid.
The administrators of “Toowoomba Ghost Chasers” Facebook page also remains unconvinced by the arguments of both sides.
Mostly, however, agreed they are no longer coming to back to Murphy’s Hole for a swim or for anything else, just to be safe.
